Monday, March 17, 2008 Hello Dr. Beck

Jase took Shayla to see Dr. Jill Beck, M.D.

At the first visit of the day, Dr. Beck examined Shayla and ordered a CT scan. Jase had to take Shayla home for lunch and get Mariah off to school and after doing so returned to Dr. Beck's office for the scan results.

The return visit this same day got the results from the CT. The scan shows a large mass in Shayla's sinuses, both anterior and posterior. It is encroaching on the ocular orbit. Dr. Beck ordered an MRI to make sure the mass is not in the brain tissue.

Jase took Shayla to St. Alphonsus in Eagle, ID to have the MRI done because they had an opening today.

The MRI initial reading shows the tumor is not in Shayla's brain. Preliminary results indicate it is not malignant.

Dr. Beck scheduled Shayla for a biopsy on the following Monday, March 24th. This is not a polyp as our family doctor originally supposed.

Dr. Beck doesn't know what this is yet. She thinks it could be an inverting pabloma (sp?) which is a benign tumor with a high rate of recurrence. Another possible diagnosis is a coinal polyp (sp?), but she is doubtful that is what we are dealing with.
