Make A Wish!
Yesterday Shayla and I were asked to appear at Capital High's school assembly. They made a very special presentation to the Make A Wish foundation in Shayla's behalf for her wish. The marketing club on campus adopted Shayla's wish for their project this year. In the end, the student body of Capital raised almost $2000 for Shayla's wish!
Shayla was pretty nervous. She was asked if she would be willing to announce the class winner of the wishing star contest and she did--in front of all the students, as well as parents and faculty! They gave Shayla a T-shirt like the students had for spirit week at Capital and they even rolled out the 'red carpet' for her to walk to the center of the gymnasium. She got quite an applause from the school when she was introduced. It was a tear-moment for me and Shayla was doing her best to be brave in front of so many! She waved, she said thank you, and announced that the Sophomores won the contest.
Lots of pictures were taken by the students and the marketing teacher, Sandy Wold. As soon as I get copies I will post them.
It was a very humbling experience.
