Smooth Sailing--for the most part

Wow! I can't believe how quickly time flies once we are out of the hospital! Here it is Wednesday and everyone is wondering how all is going. So sorry for no posting for the past two days.

Shayla handled her first blood transfusion splendidly; no adverse reactions and plenty of good response. She is pink again! She is pretty perky today. I can tell when she is feeling better because she will 'argue' with me more than when she is feeling low. It's not a bad thing. She is just more expressive when she feels good. I guess we can all relate to that!

Heel Pain:
Yep, now Shayla has pain in/on both heels. The doctor believes it is neuropathy from the chemo (a normal occurrence with the meds she is on). Unfortunately, this may last as long as the chemo does. Her pain medication does take the edge off the pain for her and seems to work for 6 hours before a new dose is needed, so that is a plus. She is staying active, though, by going out back with the dog or her baby sis and watching them play.


Hand blisters:
Okay, this is a strange one: Shayla's right hand has blisters on it on her fingers (the inside of middle knuckle), the pads on the inside of her hand, and her thumb. We are trying to figure these out, and the only explanation Shayla can come up with is using a fork to cut her food (like pancakes). Weird, huh? Not sure if that is the case or not, will have to ask at tomorrow's clinic appointment. Maybe Shayla is right; with her weaker system, maybe hand blisters come easier? At least they aren't painful...just puzzling!

Prayer in faith and faith in Prayer:
Last night we didn't have any sleeping pills because the order had not been called in and Shayla was worried about being able to get the rest she needed. So, I encouraged her to ask her Heavenly Father sincerely for the blessing of a good night's sleep. We know that God hears and answers prayers--He has done just that for us (and family and friends and strangers, and...) so much already! What Shayla needed to know was that it is all right to ask our Heavenly Father for blessings for ourselves. And guess what? He heard her prayer and answered it. Although she woke up once because she had to, she was able to go right back to sleep. No matter how insignificant our request may seem to us, God wants to bless us. All we must do is ask in faith and if it be right, He will grant all we ask! Shayla found some great scriptures on that, so ask her if you would like to know which ones she likes best.

We had fun moments tonight in the kitchen just laughing together. I hope Jase will get to see some more of these moments when he is home from work this weekend, because it is a lift to the heart to see and hear the kids laugh and joke together and be able to join in!

We are grateful for the happy day today our Heavenly Father has blessed us with.
