1 Down, 13 to Go!

THE FIRST 3-DAY PROGRAM
It has been a long weekend for Shayla. Saturday wasn't too bad until the evening. Then her back started to hurt terribly, to tears. She found relief curling up in a ball on her knees. It is so hard to see her hurt so much and be useless to ease it! Thankfully the medication kicked in and gave her relief, it was just the time it took to work!

Her first chemo drug (Vincristine) was given at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. Her third (and longest) drug, Doxorubicin, was started at 10:40 p.m. That means she can come home as soon as 10:40 p.m. Monday if she wants to. That drug takes 48 hours to be administered through the port.

THANKFULLY Shayla has tolerated the medication well. She has not been nauseated at all. However, she has no appetite, which is almost as concerning because she doesn't want to eat and therefore has no energy to build up her strength and reserves. This is part of the chemo. We just have to try to coax her into little bites here and there.

Tomorrow is a busy day trying to get our home to a state of 'clean' so Shayla will be exposed to as little risk as possible to infection. We have some great friends here to help lighten the load and even carry some of the burden for us to do what needs to be done.

We made it through today. Thank you Heavenly Father!
