Another Chemo Session complete!

Wow, what a difference a few weeks makes! I think we were all secretly dreading this chemo session because the last time Shayla had this group of meds she had the bulging eye, pain in the face and teeth, an unplanned CT scan and an extra day in the hospital to get the pain under control. This time was so completely different! No pain, no swelling, no discomfort of any kind. Well, okay, she was bored!!!
This time Shayla kept her hands busy. She painted three wooden phrases to inspire her ('Believe', 'Dream', and 'Hope'--all found at one of our neighborhood dollar stores!), made a mosaic cowboy boot which will be sent to her here at home once the donating business puts the finishing touches on it, and she drew a little bit. Yes, we still watched movies and she played her virtual horse game on the laptop, but that didn't occupy her all the time. I suggested we come up with some kind of 'Where's Waldo' game to put up on her walls of the hospital room to keep things interesting and entertaining since the next stay is the long one again. Although the chemo still makes her tired, she seems to be handling them remarkably well. She may even be able to have more visitors at the hospital. That would probably be a good thing for her now.
I am grateful to see the little spunk return to Shayla's behavior. Tried and tired, she hangs out with us. I am glad school is over (well, almost--Shayla still needs to do a little more to finish the semester). Even though Shayla may not agree aloud, I think she will enjoy having her siblings around during the day a bit more.
